Susan
Jane (Banks) Rodriguez passed away Saturday, February 26 at 7:30 am leaving this
world a better place. She was born in Parsons, WV on June 21, 1945 to James
Frederick and Norma Eugene (Noland) Banks. She married John Rodriguez March 13,
1974, CEO of Johnsbargainstores.com LLC. They later divorced but remained
friends.
Susan is
survived by a son, Michael John Rodriguez (married to Susan Morey), a granddaughter Nalina
Rodriguez
and a grandson, Malachi Rodriguez. Also surviving are brothers Robert, William and James
Jr.; sisters Jan, Patricia, Carolyn Runion and Margaret Gosche.
She was
always a warm and loving friend to all, especially her grandchildren, nieces and
nephews, to whom she was particularly special and inspired them to be loving
people.
Susan
left Ohio in 1968 and moved to New York City where she passionately studied
dance, lithography, oil painting, water colors, photography, sculpting and many
other art forms. Her 15 years at the Art Students League of New York brought
her acclaim as an artist with many awards and accolades from her peers.
She
worked for the State Division of Human Rights of New York for 30 years until her
retirement in 2001.
All
memorials will go to a fund to support The Art Students League of New York City
and may be sent to her son directly or the family in care of the funeral home.
Warm,
affectionate, loving and an organ donor, Susan left the world a better place.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, Friday, March 4, 2011 at Engle Shook Funeral Home
(address). Funeral will be Saturday, March , 2011 at the funeral home with
services conducted by Rev. Donna Van Trees. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s
Cemetery in Tiffin, OH.
